Police have successfully cracked down on a key link in an interstate drug trafficking network in a major and precise crackdown. During a special vehicle inspection in the Ramna police station area, police arrested a smuggler with 1.85 kilograms of opium, while his accomplice escaped under cover of darkness.
The entire matter was revealed by SDPO Satyendra Narayan Singh at a press conference held at the SDPO’s office. He stated that on the night of March 31, 2026, at around 10 p.m., a tip-off was received that two young men were traveling on a Bullet motorcycle carrying opium via Garhwa to Uttar Pradesh. Upon receiving the information, a team was immediately formed and intensive vehicle checking was initiated on NH-75.
During the checking, an attempt was made to stop a suspicious Bullet motorcycle, but the young man on it eluded the police and fled at high speed. The police team, showing diligence, gave chase. Seeing the pursuit intensify, the two accused abandoned the motorcycle near Parswan village and fled into the forest, further escalating the situation.
Police immediately cordoned off the area and alerted villagers. After a two-hour effort, a young man was apprehended by villagers in Bahiyar Kala village. Upon receiving the information, a police team arrived at the scene and took the young man into custody.
During interrogation, the arrested youth identified himself as Ansh Shukla (21 years old), a resident of Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. During a search, approximately 1.85 kilograms of opium was recovered from his bag. When asked for valid documents, he was unable to produce any.
During interrogation, the accused made a shocking revelation that he was carrying the contraband to sell it in Punjab, which confirms the existence of an interstate smuggling network.
Police seized a black Bullet motorcycle (PB 72A0610), a Techno Shark mobile phone, and a red bag from the scene. The seized opium is estimated to be worth millions of rupees in the illegal market.
A case has been registered against the accused under sections of the NDPS Act and he has been arrested, while raids are continuing to arrest his absconding accomplice.
The raid team included:
Station House Officer Akash Kumar, Sub-Inspector Alok Kumar, Sub-Inspector Om Prakash Mahato, Sub-Inspector Jai Prakash Gupta, Havildar Bipin Bihari Gupta, Constable Mantu Kumar Bharti and Driver Constable Luv Kumar Dubey.
