Meral (Garhwa): At the call of the Jharkhand State MNREGA Employees Union, MNREGA workers in Meral block went on a three-day symbolic strike starting Monday. Through the strike, the workers demanded the immediate fulfillment of their pending demands.
In this regard, Firoz Ansari, the Meral Block President and JE of the MNREGA Employees Union, stated that this symbolic strike is being held to address the pending demands of MNREGA workers. He added that if no concrete decision is made on their demands by March 11th, all MNREGA workers will be forced to go on an indefinite strike starting March 12th.
He stated that the strike was announced through a written application to the Garhwa Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Development Commissioner, and Block Development Officer (BDO). MNREGA workers stated that they had to take this step due to their pending demands and the delay in the return of MNREGA workers who had been relieved from their duties in Garhwa district.
During the strike, many MNREGA workers including MNREGA Employees Union District President Abhimanyu Tiwari, BPO Adam Ali, Shashi Bhushan, Employment Officer Manjay Tiwari, Raghuvar Ram, Ramdeni Ram, Mandeep Singh, Bhola Kumar, Computer Operator Manish Kumar, Gautam Kumar were present.
