Majhiaon (Garhwa): At the call of the Jharkhand State MNREGA Employees Union, District Unit, Garhwa, MNREGA workers from Majhiyan and Bardihha block areas have gone on a three-day symbolic strike. This strike is being led by Village Employment Officer and Block President Prem Ram.
In this regard, Block Union President Prem Ram and Bardihha Block BPO Prabhu Toppo stated that, at the call of the State Committee of the Jharkhand State MNREGA Employees Union, the Garhwa district unit has decided to hold a symbolic strike from March 9, 2026, to March 11, 2026, in support of its pending demands. Furthermore, a warning has been issued that if a satisfactory decision is not reached on the demands, an indefinite strike will be held from March 12th.
He said that a letter regarding this matter has been submitted to the District Deputy Commissioner and District Program Coordinator, informing them of the strike. MNREGA workers say that no concrete action has been taken on their pending demands, and no initiative has been taken in the case of MNREGA workers who were laid off in Garhwa district. This symbolic strike is being held in protest against this.
Prem Ram said that under the union’s banner, MNREGA workers from other blocks, including Majhiaon and Bardihha, are also participating in the strike. During the strike, BPO Ajit Kumar Singh, JE Jaswant Kumar, clerk Akhilesh Kumar, village employment officer Virendra Prasad, Satyendra Thakur, Suresh Ram, employment officer Suman Baitha of Bardihha block, Shankar Singh, Intezaar Ansari, Joseph Francis, accountant Raju Kumar Thakur, computer assistant Dhirendra Kumar, junior engineer Aninkesh Kumar, AE Amit Kumar Bharti, and several MNREGA workers were present.
