Garhwa: On the occasion of Holi, Srijan Sahitya Manch, a leading literary organization in Garhwa, organized a humorous and satirical poetry conference on Sunday evening. Held at the local Govind High School grounds, poets from various cities across the country entertained the audience with their performances in various genres. Poonam Srivastava, a poetess from Mirzapur, began the poetry conference with a prayer to Goddess Saraswati. She then enthralled the audience with her rendition of romantic songs. She received a standing ovation with her rendition of “Jab hue pyar ke silsil dekh le, mit gaye sare shikwe gile dekh le…” and her second Bhojpuri composition, “Aag lagi ta kuch pal lahakbe kari, phool kouno rahi par mahkbe kari….” Following this, poet Prashant Bajrangi, from Sitamarhi, attempted to stir the audience with his powerful patriotic poem, “I see a hungry and naked man on the roadside, I see riots for the sake of temples and mosques, don’t talk about Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, or Christian, I only see the tricolor.” He also impressed the audience with his presentation of several other patriotic and cultural compositions. Renowned lyricist Manoj Mathur, from Banaras, attempted to create a romantic atmosphere with his songs like “Bhauji ora jaile bate Phagunwa…” and “When the west wind is blowing, Pant, it seems spring has arrived….” Shankar Kaimuri, from Bhabua, who hosted the stage, kept the audience in splits with his compositions. He presented beautiful depictions of nature with his lines, “The hot and cold weather has passed, the snowy season has arrived, the colorful season of Holi has arrived…” and “Pearly Ballia is crowned with wheat and gadrail…” Poet Pankaj Prakhar, who came from Mau, Uttar Pradesh, impressed everyone on stage with his powerful compositions. Local poets Sanjay Choubey and Dayashankar Tiwari also added color to the program with their Holi songs. The audience enjoyed the poetry session well into the night.

The humorous and satirical poetry conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dinesh Prasad Singh, Chancellor of Babu Dinesh Singh University, Garhwa Sub-Divisional Officer Sanjay Kumar, social worker Rakesh Pal, Red Cross Society President Dr. Murali Prasad Gupta, District Bar Association President Bhrigunath Choubey, and Forum Advisor Surendra Kumar Mishra, among others, by lighting a lamp and offering flowers to a picture of Goddess Saraswati. On this occasion, Chancellor Dinesh Prasad Singh highly praised the efforts of Srijan Sahitya Manch. He said that Srijan Sahitya Manch has worked to create a positive literary environment in Garhwa, which is very important for today’s society. Garhwa Sub-Divisional Officer Sanjay Kumar said that he sees a positive literary environment in Garhwa, and credits Srijan Sahitya Manch for this. He added that the poetry conference will give society a new direction. Present at the event were Garhwa MLA Satyendranath Tiwari, former MP Ghuran Ram, newly elected Garhwa Municipal Council President Daulat Soni, social activist Vijay Kesari, Congress District President Obaidullah Haq Ansari, Amrit Shukla, Sushil Kesari, Kamlesh Gupta, Manoj Kesari, and a large number of distinguished guests who remained present late into the night, enjoying the poetry conference. Prior to the poetry conference, Forum Secretary Satish Kumar Mishra attempted to address the city’s problems in a satirical manner with his Shaharnama. Chairman Vinod Pathak welcomed all guests and introduced the topic, while Advocate Rakesh Tripathi conducted the program, and patron Rasbihari Tiwari delivered the vote of thanks. The Forum’s media in-charge, Dayashankar Gupta, was specially honored at the event. Organization Secretary Rajkumar Madheshiya, Treasurer Pramod Kumar, Ramashankar Choubey, and Rajkishore Rai played an active role in making the event a success.
