In the Meral block area, the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated this year in an atmosphere of deep devotion, simplicity, and brotherhood. As dawn broke, people donned new and clean attire and set out towards the Eidgahs (prayer grounds). A tremendous sense of excitement regarding Eid was particularly evident among the children.
After offering prayers at the Eidgahs, people embraced one another to exchange Eid greetings, conveying a message of mutual love and harmony. An atmosphere of joy and festivity prevailed throughout the entire region. Following the prayers, the delight of receiving ‘Eidi’ (monetary gifts) was clearly visible on the faces of the children.
At home, people thoroughly enjoyed the traditional delicacy of Sewaiyan (sweet vermicelli), which further enhanced the sweetness of the festival. On this auspicious occasion, several public representatives and dignitaries—including CO-cum-In-charge BDO Yashwant Nayak, Mukhiya Ramsagar Mahto, Mukhiya’s husband Muna Ram, and Harendra Chaudhary—visited the Eidgahs and extended their Eid greetings to the worshippers by embracing them.
Robust security arrangements were put in place at the Eidgah located at the Meral headquarters. JE Surjit Kumar and SI Sanjay Kumar Singh served as Magistrates for the event; accompanied by their teams, they remained present to ensure that the entire program concluded in a peaceful and orderly manner.
On this sacred occasion of Eid, RJD Executive District President Karib Ansari, JMM leader Athar Ali Ansari, Jafir Ansari, journalist Navneet Kumar, and others also extended their best wishes for Eid to the residents of the region. Thus, the festival of Eid concluded in the Meral block amidst traditional festivity, mutual brotherhood, and harmony.
- The Significance of Eid:
Eid-ul-Fitr—or simply Eid—is a major religious festival for Muslims, celebrated upon the conclusion of the entire month of Ramadan. Muslims observe this festival by fasting for a full month—abstaining from food and water for approximately 12 hours each day.
- Preparations for the Festival of Eid:
A few days prior to the festival of Eid, the festive vibrancy begins to become visible in the markets. On the occasion of Eid, members of the Muslim community purchase new clothes and various other items. In particular, during the Eid festivities, one can observe crowds of people gathering at shops selling sweets and sewaiyan (vermicelli). Just as the Hindu community celebrates festivals like Diwali and Dussehra, the Muslim community celebrates the festival of Eid.
- Brotherhood and Social Unity:
Eid is not merely a religious festival for our Muslim brethren; in our India, people from all communities come together to celebrate this occasion, thereby fostering social unity and brotherhood. On the day of Eid, people set aside their mutual differences, embrace one another, and convey the message of love—affirming that we are one.
- Administration and Security Arrangements:
To ensure that the Eid festival concludes peacefully, comprehensive arrangements are put in place. These include deploying police security at Eidgahs (prayer grounds), managing road traffic, and utilizing surveillance cameras at various locations to monitor security.
