Majhiaon: Rural beneficiaries have leveled serious allegations against Bhagirathi Saav, husband of the dealer of the Public Distribution System (PDS) shop of Lakshmi Self Help Group located in Purhe village of the block area.
Nearly three dozen rural beneficiaries, including Lalati Devi, Sujanati Devi, Malti Devi, Anita Devi, Samudra Devi, Ganpati Devi, Sheela Devi, Shobha Devi, Akali Devi, Soni Devi, and Gangi Devi, allege that the dealer did not distribute rations for the months of February and March. They say that the beneficiaries were asked to take their thumb impressions without actually providing the rations, raising suspicions of a ration scam.
According to the beneficiaries, when they asked for their share of rations, the dealer’s husband, Bhagirathi Saav, behaved rudely and verbally, abusing them. When they protested, they were locked in their house and threatened with violence. This incident has caused widespread anger among the villagers.
Villagers say that government rations are a vital means of livelihood for poor and needy families. However, due to alleged negligence and fraud by the dealer, many families have not received rations for two months, causing significant hardship.
Rural beneficiaries, led by Deputy Chief Fulkali Devi, approached the Block Supply Officer (MO) and submitted a written application complaining about the entire matter. The application demanded the supply of rations due for the months of February and March, an impartial investigation, and legal action against the dealer if found guilty.
The villagers have also demanded that if the allegations are found to be true in the investigation,
If found guilty, the dealer’s license should be cancelled immediately and transfer of ration card to another dealer This should be done so that the beneficiaries can get ration on time.
Meanwhile, Bhagirathi Saw, a dealer with the Lakshmi Self Help Group, denied the allegations. However, she admitted that beneficiaries were required to take thumb impressions in February and March and reported receiving less rations.
Meanwhile, Block Food Supply Officer Ajit Kumar Yadav stated that the beneficiaries’ applications have been received. If the allegations are found to be true after investigation, legal action will be taken against the dealer concerned.
