Meral: Holi, the festival of colors, was celebrated with joy and traditional fervor in rural areas, including the block headquarters. From Wednesday morning, groups of children were seen applying colors and gulal to each other with water guns at intersections and neighborhoods.
In most homes, after traditional rituals and prayers, Holi celebrations began, with people enjoying homemade puddings, dishes, and various delicacies, continuing well into the evening. People visited each other’s homes in groups, applying colors and offering sweets and food, and greeting each other with Holi greetings.
Apart from this, at many places, people were seen dancing in joy, tearing clothes and getting drenched in colours, while enjoying traditional Holi songs on the tunes of DJ sound and dholak, jhaal and manjira.
Like every year, Holi at the Meral police station was special this year. People enjoyed Holi with colors, traditional Holi songs, and traditional dishes.
The Meral administration remained fully vigilant to ensure a peaceful and harmonious Holi celebration. Under the direction of CO and in-charge BDO Yashwant Nayak, extensive security arrangements were made under the leadership of Police Station Officer Vishnu Kant. The administration remained on alert to deal with any incident or accident.
The markets were also bustling with activity on Holi. Grocery stores, color shops, and meat and chicken shops saw large crowds of people, with ample shopping.
