Garhwa: A major theft occurred in broad daylight in the crowded Old Market area of Garhwa city. According to reports, two scheming young men entered Naresh Babu Sharaf’s jewelry shop posing as customers and fled with gold jewelry worth approximately 20 lakh rupees.
The incident is said to have happened around 4:00 pm today.
It is said that first a young man came into the shop and asked for a gift for his sister. As soon as the shopkeeper showed him the jewelry in a box, a second young man also entered the shop. He discreetly handed the shopkeeper some cash and said that his sister was standing outside and he would bring another gift for her. Meanwhile, the two young men, seeing the opportunity, packed the jewelry without removing it from the box and fled.
According to shopkeeper Naresh Babu Sharaf, about three and a quarter grams (as per information) of gold jewellery including lockets, coins and earrings were stolen, whose estimated value is said to be around Rs 20 lakh.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and began searching for the accused, examining CCTV footage from the shop. This incident, which occurred in broad daylight in a crowded area, has created panic among traders.
At present the police is busy investigating the matter and is claiming to arrest the accused soon.
