Shri Banshidhar Nagar:- Taking seriously the incidents of cyber fraud and banking frauds that are continuously emerging in the area, on Monday, as per the instructions of Superintendent of Police Garhwa, Police Station Incharge Upendra Kumar along with the police force inspected the State Bank of India and Bank of India branches. During this, he closely reviewed the security arrangements of the bank and informed the account holders present there about the necessary precautions to be taken to protect themselves from cyber fraud. The Police Station Incharge obtained important information related to security from the branch managers of both the banks and instructed them to immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity, presence of brokers or fraudsters, so that timely action can be taken.
While making bank customers aware, Police Station Incharge Upendra Kumar said that while withdrawing money, do not get any form filled by any unknown person, because this can give your personal and banking information in wrong hands. Which can be misused for wrong purposes. He said that after withdrawing cash, leave the bank premises only after keeping the money safely and do not get into any stranger’s car outside the bank, no matter how helpful he may seem. He said that in many cases, incidents of fraud and robbery have been carried out by targeting people in this manner.
The station in-charge said that many times while opening the account, the account holder comes with some other person, who later misuses the ATM card or other documents, due to which the account holder has to face serious trouble. Regarding the increasing cases of cyber fraud, Upendra Kumar appealed to the customers not to click on any suspicious link coming on the mobile phone and if any person calls claiming to be a bank officer, then do not give him OTP, PIN, ATM number or other confidential information. In case of any kind of cyber fraud, call 1930 or register your complaint immediately on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal https://www.cybercrime.gov.in.
The station in-charge said that vigilance and awareness are the strongest measures to prevent cyber crime. The police administration is fully alert about the safety of the general public and such awareness campaigns will continue in the future as well.
